Adrenal Nutritional Support

ADRENAL CORTEX

The adrenal cortex is responsible for producing a special group of hormones known as corticosteroids.  These hormones are comprised of glucocorticoids, mineralcorticoids, and 17-ketosteroids, and are essential for key homeostatic processes throughout the body.  Glucocorticoids are necessary for glucose metabolism and immune response.  Mineral corticoids help maintain healthy electrolyte balance and already normal blood pressure. The 17-ketosteroids are associated with sex hormones produced by the adrenal glands.

In today's world it seems as though everyone is functioning in "high-stress" mode.  Dietary habits fraught with caffeine and refined sugars, and lifestyle habits that deprive us of adequate rest and exercise can, over time, take their toll on the adrenal glands.  Adrenal cortex tissue extracts play a valuable role in supporting healthy adrenal glands--which helps maintain immune function and promotes a feeling of energy.  Glandulars also help support healthy cortisol levels.  Adrenal cortex provides adrenal cortex tissue for focused support and normal adrenal function.

CORTINE

Cortine combines the overall nutritive properties of pure, whole adrenal tissue and adrenal cortex tissue for focused support and healthy adrenal function.

CORTREX

Cortisol, a hormone produced by the adrenal glands in times of stress, is important in regulating blood sugar and maintaining healthy immune function, fertility, and overall physical and mental stamina.  Usually the adrenal glands can cope with the demands of everyday life.  However, in an environment of chronic stress the adrenal glands can become overworked, which can potentially lead to problems throughout the body.

Cortrex supplies a combination of adrenal glandulars and nutrients to support overall adrenal function and help maintain healthy cortisol levels. Whole adrenal tissue and adrenal cortex provide a component to Cortrex specific for tonifying the adrenals.  Licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) can have a modulating effect on cortisol activity.  Ascorbic acid, thiamine (Vitamin B1), riboflavin 5'-phosphate (activated Vitamin B2), pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5), pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (activated Vitamin B6), and zinc are included for their strengthening and supportive role in optimizing adrenal function

ADRENAL DESICCATED

Indications: Exhaustion, fatigue and hypoadrenia.

A whole adrenal gland concentrate.  This is a short-term supplement when stronger adrenal support is needed. Sudden severe stress, shock, burns, sudden low blood pressure, and also during athletic competition.

DRENATROPHIN PMG

Indications: Hyper and hypoadrenia, "burn out' respiratory weakness, and allergies.

Supports adrenal function, aids in the rebuilding and repair of the gland, and normalizes adrenal hormone output.  Drenatrophin PMG is the nucleoprotein extracted from fresh frozen adrenal glands, and provides a heavier concentration of adrenal nucleoprotein than Drenamin.  Drenatrophin PMG is best for patients with low blood pressure and weak adrenals.

DRENAMIN

Indications: Fatigue, adrenal insufficiency, chronic fatigue, adrenal support hypoglycemia, lowered resistance, allergies, respiratory disorders and stress.

Drenamin is a combination of Drenatrophin PMG, Cataplex C and Cataplex G, so Drenamin supports the adrenal glands.  Drenamin provides a broader spectrum of nutrients than Drenatrophin PMG and it's a more complete form of adrenal support.  Drenamin is best for patients with high or normal blood pressue and weak adrenals.

DHEA

Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is a natural steroid hormone produced by the adrenal glands and a precursor of the human sex hormones, testosterone and estrogen.  With age, production of this hormone declines.  Current research indicates supplementation with DHEA (when found to be low) can improve both physical and psychological wellbeing.

Plasma levels of DHEA begin to decline progressively with age starting around age 40, such that plasma levels of DHEA at age 70 are usually about 20% of those in young adults.  Reports indicate elderly individuals who supplement with 5-15 mg/day of DHEA, as an encapsulated powder in 2-3 divided amounts, often experience improved mood, energy levels, memory, appetite, and skin health.  Supplementing with DHEA is also associated with supporting cardiovascular health and carbohydrate metabolism, and enhancing weight management, cognitive function, and immune health.

PHYTISONE

Phytisone is a unique combination of adaptogen botanical and nutrients to provide the nutritional support needed to optimize the adrenals' response to stress.

Astragalus membranaceus is used, typically in combination with ginseng, to promote energy and support immune function. Licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) appears to have a modulating effect on cortisol activity. Ginger (Zingiber officinale) has the capacity to increase the bioavailability of other substances. Perhaps the two best-known adaptogens (substances that improve the body's resistance to stress) are Panax ginseng and Eleutherococcus senticosus. An abundance of research demonstrates an enhanced response to physical and chemical stress, as well as a beneficial physiological effect on the central nervous, cardiovascular, and endocrine systems, following administration of Panax ginseng. Similarly, ample evidence supports the use of Eleutherococcus to help normalize the body's response to stress. Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) has been called Indian ginseng and is considered to be the preeminent adaptogen from the Ayurvedic medical system. Ascorbic acid, thiamine (vitamin B1), pantethine (the active form of vitamin B5), pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (the active form of vitamin B6), and zinc are included for their strengthening and supportive role in optimizing adrenal function.

RELORA PLUS

Individuals who are occasionally anxious, feel stressed, or eat when stressed can have trouble maintaining their optimal weight.

Relora Plus is a proprietary blend of plant extracts from Magnolia officinalis and Phellodendron amurense (two major botanicals used in traditional Chinese medicine for over 1,500 years) along with a mix of B-vitamins, including active forms of B2, B6, B12, and folate.

Studies have demonstrated that the plant extracts in Relora Plus help to lower morning cortisol (a marker of adrenal stress), increase salivary DHEA, manage stress-related eating, and help manage body weight. Study participants felt significantly more relaxed, less anxious, and better in control of their mood and stress-related eating habits. The B-vitamins in Relora Plus are nutritional cofactors in the creation of neurotransmitters and have been shown to support mood.
