Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization is another technique used to release muscle tension, tightness and constriction.  You may have heard other names for "Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization", such as Gwa Sha, Graston, and Saxton technique.

The treatment includes the use of specially designed instruments to provide a massage to the myofascia.  This specialized tool is used to gently scrape or rub the skin over a problem area to break up scar tissue and to re-aline the muscle fibers back into optimal orientation.  This reduce pain and increasing joint range of motion.  The use of the instrument provides a mechanical advantage by allowing deeper tissue penetration, vibration feedback sense, and more specific treatment.
